Preston Riversway Festival.

The pierats summer tour continued full speed ahead with a trip to the Preston Riversway Festival on the weekend of the 5-6th July. On the way we picked up Mr Daniel Ashcroft 2003 Amateur Freestyle World Champion, popped him in to our first class carriage, gave him a bag of crisps and a can of red bull and arrived in Preston bright and early Saturday morning raring to go.

Celebrating the fantastic waterborne traditions of this powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution, the Riversway Festival turns the clocks back, pre-1981 when the Preston docks closed for business. Now part of a major rejuvenation scheme, Riversway has become a great place to go for all the family.

This year's event was a massive success, with entertainment from a variety of local bands, demonstrations from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Team, mask making, sea-life touch pools and a mobile zoo! Obviously the highlight of the festival was none other than the jetskiers, each time we entered the water we were met with cheers from the hundreds of enthusiastic Mums, Dads and Kids that filled the dockside. I personally think we all skied as well as ever at this event with James pulling off some the biggest inverted nose stabs that I’ve seen in a long time, Mr Randi Martin again entertained the crowds with his endless amount of enthusiasm and I must admit some fantastic Subs and massive Monkey Jumps. I thought i even skied quite well with some plate-to-plate Barrel Rolls and an attempt at a No Hander Barrel Roll. But of course the star of the day was Dan Ascroft, his massive Barrel Rolls and Back Flips really did put us in the shade and he left the assembled crowd totally amazed.
